Housing (Whare & Whenua) Strategy

TUA supported the Rūnanga of Ngāti Toa to understand the needs of their whānau, through a housing survey and a series of hui throughout the rohe. 

The Rūnanga of Ngāti Toa Rangatira (TROTR) required a Housing Strategy to support strategic decision making, ongoing planning and communication with the Board and stakeholders. 

TUA supported development of  housing strategy which is a direct response to the stories and data gathered from engagement and other statistical sources, allowing Ngāti Toa to tailor their housing work to the needs and aspirations of their people. The housing strategy outlines the priorities and actions needed to assist Ngāti Toa whānau into housing that suits their true needs. 

We co-developed a plan for engagement and provided general support for TROTR to undertake the necessary research and engagement to understand the needs of whānau. We also provided assistance to Ngāti Toa to develop a housing survey to gather data about housing issues and opportunities to add context to the stories heard through direct kōrero on the roadshow.

TUA supported the analysis of engagement feedback and summarised findings into the Housing Strategy, providing support to develop a housing strategy that explores how to respond to the insights from engagement and deliver more equitable housing solutions for Ngāti Toa.
