Project Details
Supporting the design and establishment of a $55 million a kāinga programme in Te Tai Tokerau (Northland).
TUA advised and provided start-up support to Te Paeroa in developing a housing prototype model, Te Pouahi, to deliver affordable rental housing for Māori families in need of quality and affordable housing within Te Tai Tokerau. The prototype also had to demonstrate how it would be able to sustainable fund an ongoing pipeline of affordable rental projects.
The program went beyond housing delivery and established a ‘one stop shop’ that builds the capability and capacity of project groups, undertakes the design and delivery of housing, as well as building the foundations for attracting additional funding and investment into Te Pouahi. Te Pouahi will support a collaborative network of whānau, hapū, iwi, trusts and Māori organisations in both urban and rural areas within Te Tai Tokerau.
We developed the financial and funding model for the housing projects that ensures funds are recycled and reused for other affordable housing projects throughout Te Tai Tokerau. We also developed the governance structure at a Fund and project level and drafted the engagement strategy for approaching all stakeholders along the housing ecosystem in the region.
